I started Crossfit in 2012 after years of being bored with my fitness routine. I power lifted in high school and did gymnastics as a kid so CF seemed like the most logical choice. The Army forces me to maintain a high level of fitness and CF makes that pretty easy. I train because I like feeling good. And I like to eat. A lot. I do the class WODs because they are fun and challenging but I’ll also do strength on my own. Often you’ll see me in the back doing accessory and mobility work. As I get older, my body reminds me that I can’t just do a class WOD and feel ok. I need to focus on the slow, strict movements as well. I got my L1 in 2013 and started coaching right after. I took the Gymnastics Course in 2017 and got my L2 in 2019. The best part about coaching is watching athletes go outside their comfort zones and push themselves. I get more excited watching someone hit a PR or string together DUs than I do for my own PRs.
